For anyone planning to honor Jackie in person, the first decision is which gathering to attend. The September 26 tribute in Fawnskin includes a carving unveiling and a park renaming. The separate October wildlife weekend begins a week later at Bear Mountain, followed by education activities around the valley.

The distinction matters when making travel plans. The two Saturdays have different venues and programs, while Sunday’s activity schedule is still incomplete. Readers asking whether they can watch from home also need to keep the dates separate: a broadcast of one gathering wouldn’t automatically provide coverage of the others.

Fawn Park hosts the September gathering on Saturday, September 26, at 39221 North Shore Drive, Fawnskin, CA 92333. It starts at 10 a.m., with Jackie’s life-size carving scheduled for unveiling at 1 p.m. The 2 p.m. renaming introduces the name Fawnskin Freedom Park.

The Jackie Memorial Site describes an all-day gathering for people to share memories. It also identifies the park as independently and privately owned. The September date isn’t part of the October partnership that includes Friends of Big Bear Valley.

On Saturday, October 3, the destination is Bear Mountain Ski Resort, 43101 Goldmine Drive, Big Bear Lake, CA 92315. Wings Over Big Bear gives attendees half an hour between the venue opening and the ceremony’s start.

The 11:05 portion includes local councilmembers, Friends of Big Bear Valley, Visit California’s Lynn Carpenter, and county and state representatives. The later booth closing time doesn’t extend the ceremony: visitors can continue browsing after the formal remembrance ends.

Sunday, October 4, is Wildlife Education Day, extending the weekend into activities focused on the valley’s animals and habitats. Individual locations and times haven’t been announced on the official event page as of September 14. Don’t assume Sunday uses Saturday’s venue or starting time, or that the memorial RSVP covers every activity that may be announced.

There has already been a Fawn Park memorial. On September 5, visitors gathered to remember Jackie, with ABC7 subsequently reporting attendance of more than 1,000. That earlier gathering helps explain why memorial footage may already be circulating. It doesn’t mean the September 26 carving unveiling or October 3 commemoration has taken place.

The announced tributes also don’t settle questions about Jackie’s remains. A carving dedication or remembrance ceremony shouldn’t be read as confirmation of a burial, a return of her remains or any other arrangement not stated in the event program.
